I am Theresa Westwood, and I am running for school board director in Region 2. I am a proud Spring-Ford parent of two children. I have 16 years of experience in the financial services industry working in various executive leadership roles across relationship management, operations, and marketing. I also serve as a dance teacher in our Spring-Ford community, an active community volunteer, and have 4 years of prior board experience with arts-based non-profits.
I am passionate about all Spring-Ford students having access to a fair and quality public school education that equips them for their futures. I’m excited to bring my experience and dedication to the Spring-Ford board to drive positive changes for our students, staff, and community.
Personnel
I believe our personnel are the heart of our district and without their dedication and passion, Spring-Ford wouldn’t be the excellent district it is. I will focus on talent retention and diverse and equitable hiring practices to reduce costly employee turnover and to enhance staff engagement.
Academics
I believe our student’s academic success should be at the core of Spring-Ford’s focus. I support enhancing math outcomes through targeted intervention, and holding early screenings for reading proficiency so our students can thrive throughout their academic career.
Infrastructure
I believe investing in our infrastructure is critical to ensure an equitable and positive learning environment for our students. These investments should be fiscally responsible and consider the return on investment, and student, staff, and community impact.
Long Term Fiscal Planning
I will advocate for continued long term project and budget planning that focuses on the needs of the district not just this year, but in the next 10 to 20 years. I will fight to minimize short term tactics that could threaten the district’s ability to have adequate liquidity for emergencies and jeopardize funding required for long-term investments.
